Respiratory Therapy is a profession dedicated to the care of patients with heart and lung disorders. Respiratory care practitioners evaluate, monitor, treat and administer medications to patients of all ages from premature infants to seniors with lung disease.
Respiratory Care Practitioners
Respiratory care practitioners provide relief to patients with chronic conditions like asthma, sleep apnea or COPD. They are key members of the Code and rapid response teams as well as providing emergency care to victims of a heart attack, stroke, drowning, trauma or shock.
Respiratory Therapists
Respiratory therapists work in a wide variety of settings including acute care hospitals, long-term care facilities, home care, rehabilitation, research, education and pulmonary function and sleep laboratories.
